Mahal - Glass Beams

Venue Poster & Vinyl Design

Transforming music to visuals

Creating a venue poster for Glass Beams’ 2024 album, Mahal. Glass Beams was founded in Australia in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and is a Melbourne-based trio that formed around founding member Rajan Silva, with the other two musicians remaining mysterious in the public eye. The band’s genre is described as Psychedelic rock, Indie, alternative, and funk.

Breaking into Montreal’s music scene

The goal is to create a visually engaging poster and vinyl that both draws the Montreal music scene to the Club Soda and creates an identity that aligns with Glass Beams’ feel of their unique music. The vinyl is meant to be a special addition that stands out from typical records, and it uses special printing techniques to achieve this.

Emerging from the darkness

The final result for the poster is a hypnotic layered circle that I made using mark-making techniques, and that is meant to attract listeners to their psychedelic rock feel. The dark background creates a focus point for the main artwork and adds to the mysterious feel. The vinyl uses die-cuts that resemble a spiral effect, meant to focus on the band name in the center.
